Hero

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we are celebrating our country. I chose this adorable House Mouse stamp that I have used several times because it just beams patriotism to me - not to mention the little mice are just so darn cute!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

This is a pop up card - yep, it is a card. It can be folded flat for mailing then it "pops" up to display! I had a blast making this and used the instructions from The Next Level challenge blog.

Materials:

Patterned Paper - Scenic Route
Cardstock - Misc from stash
Stamped Image - House Mouse by Stampabilities
Stamped Sentiment - Paper Inspirations
Metal Tag - Brave by Making Memories
Stickles - Yellow and Diamond
Embossing Folder - Script
Die Cut - Thanks from With Gratitude
Other Misc Materials from Stash - oversized paperclip, ribbon, Stickles, gem

I hope you enjoy my tribute to my country and I'd love to see what you come up with!!!

Jemez Falls

Well, this is it for me today I am thinking!!! I got a lot done and I have a HUGE mess to clean up. That is the only thing about scrapping that I don't like - the clean up!!! I think I am the world's messiest scrapper as I seem to need to pull EVERYTHING out when I work.

On to my LO!!! Jemez Falls - absolutely beautiful! Took this picture when we went hiking on my birthday in the Jemez Mountains here in New Mexico. The falls were amazing I just wish we'd taken the other trail so that we would have ended up at the bottom of the falls to play around a bit - next time!!

Photobucket

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

batter.......batter.........Swing

Another fun LO completed this weekend!!! This is my son from 5/2001 when he played little league! I've been waiting to scrap these for some time now never being able to come up with just the right layout for them but I really like how I did this!!!

Photobucket

Here's a close up of the ghost shapes I used:

amazing

Well, believe it or not I am on a roll here lately with LO's - well, at least this week!!! This one completes 2 challenges - Jan's recent favorite photo and Sophia's all white. I struggled with the all white part, I kept wanting to pop on a pink flower or bow or SOMETHING............but, in the end I managed to keep the color away!!!

Photobucket

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Howdy

Hi ya'll!!! This card makes me feel like talkin' with my Texas accent............LOL Yeah, yeah I am a goof sometimes!!!

Anywho, I made this card for a card challenge over at Scrappin' Mojo and I combined it with the sketch from Friday Sketchers!!! I so love killin' two birds with one stone!!!

Photobucket

Stamp is from My Favorite Things featuring one of the Who's That Girl stamps and the papers are Little Yellow Bicycle. I did some faux stitching around the edges because I was too lazy to change out the thread on my machine right now..LOL

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

The Lone Tree

Hi there!!! Today was a beautiful day in New Mexico! We hit highs of around 90 but this afternoon brought some storms through that really cooled things off!!! I was talking to my Mom about 4:45 our time (5:45 Texas time) and she said it was 101 degrees..............we were at, um, 74...............man I'm loving it!!!

Tonite Cait and I are scrapping. It is nice to have my girl scrapping with me again instead of her head in the computer - it would be there but we are having connection problems and Comcast isn't due out til morning so she can't really play her video games.........LOL

Anywho, here is a LO I completed for the Summer Soiree Blog Hop at Scrappin' Mojo. The challenge was to use a cute little nature animal so, my animal is the owl. I used a second sheet of paper and cut the owl out and layered it with a pop dot for dimension then I added, oh yeah, you see right, GOOGLIE EYES!!! I love using googlie eyes but don't have the chance to use them very often so I take it when I get it!!! The picture is of a tree that was growing on the side of the mountains when we went to the Jemez for my birthday. This beautiful tree was pretty much all alone in its glory and I couldn't resist snapping a pic!

Photobucket

Hope you like it!!!

Bread

OK, for the record:

I am a really good cook. I can cook and bake just about anything you could ever want......................except BREAD!!! I have struggled and struggled trying many recipes - one that is proven successful by my friend Cristal - and still, my bread sucks!!!!

Until today!!!!

I may have, what will be the first successful from scratch loaf of bread that I have ever baked. Now, it looks "purty" but we haven't cut into it yet to see so I'll have to update ya later but for now, look at my bread!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cross your fingers that it tastes as good as it looks!!!

On another note, I am saddened today by the loss of both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. I watched both while growing up and it seems just so surreal. They will be forever in our hearts.

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

It's delicious!!! Look how "purty" the inside is too!!!

Photobucket

I know, it is silly to get so excited over bread but you truly don't understand the painstaking hours I have spent trying to get a loaf of bread right!!!

Another Layout

I'm on a roll - I am really scaring myself!! LOL I know these are not as detailed as I typically do but I have to keep them from being so bulky for the album.

Photobucket

I'm gonna set aside the layout making for a day or two and put my hand at some cards for some challenges I want to play in!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Beautiful Dreamer

Another layout for my great niece's album I'm working on - that is 3, count 'em 3 layouts in 2 days!! WOOHOO I haven't scrapped this many layouts in I don't know how long!!! LOL I am using another sketch from 52 Sketches, 52 Weeks - I am totally digging these sketches and this one made me think of the long ago used lollipop flowers!!!

Anywho, I loved this pic of her and flipped it to BW to scrap for this - so innocent and sweet. Anyways, I just thought she was such a beautiful dreamer and realized that would be the perfect title for the page. Now the lollipop flowers on here were so much fun to make - heck, I haven't made a lollipop flower since my Twilight layout in January - I might have gotten a little carried away with the 2nd one but I couldn't resist!!!

Photobucket

A close up of the biggest lollipop flower:

Photobucket

Home Accents cartridge again for the flourishes, DCWV Nursery Baby Girl papers, sewed around the edge (don't look too closely you'll see my oopppss's) and Thickers.

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!!

PS Again, sorry for the poor photo's - I really need to get a bigger light box made.................*****sigh*****

Full of Wonder

Here's another LO for my great niece's album that I'm working on. I have really enjoyed scrapping baby pages the last 2 days! I started out using sketch #22 at 52 Weeks, 52 Sketches but kind of went askew but........I still like it!!!

Sorry for the poor photo quality but when we moved from Texas to New Mexico I kind of left my light box there and haven't made another one big enough to photograph layouts - I do have the one for cards though.

Anywho, I loved this picture and thought the giant rub-on I had just fit her darling little face perfectly!!!

Photobucket

Again, using DCWV Nursery Baby Girl stack w/random solid color cardstock. Prima and American Crafts flowers, Prima gem swirls, Home Accents cartridge for the butterfly and the swirl, miscellaneous brads, ribbon by Paper Studio and the journaling card, which I left blank for my niece Krystal to write in, is Making Memories.

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Welcome....................

.................Little One

Wow, do you know this is the FIRST layout I've done since the first part of April if I remember right???? Things have been so busy that I just haven't had a chance to worry with layouts because they typically take me forever!!! LOL

Well, this is my new great niece, Serinity. I am working on an album for her and this is the opening page. Now, this is not my typical style - it is very, well, plain. But I like it plain. I may go back later and add more to it to make it more me but for now, page 1 of the album is complete!!!

Photobucket

I'm using the DCWV Nursery - Baby Girl stack for the majority of the album with some solid cardstock tossed in here and there. I used the Home Accents Cricut cartridge to cut out the "welcome" and the New Arrival cartridge for the "little one" and the "feet." I stickled "little one" and chalked around the "feet" and "welcome" to give it a little dimension. Oh yeah, I also put some pink chalk on the flower. On the lace I put a little pink flower charm.

Here's a close up of the chalking and stickling - is stickling a word?? Well, it is now!!!

Poolside

One more quick card tonite! I am not totally fond of this card but it is kind of cute. I did this for the House Mouse Challenge blog this week where they are being sponsored by 2 Red Bananas with a sketch challenge. I sure wish I was hanging with the bunny right now as it was definitely a warm day here in New Mexico - summer has officially arrived!!!

Photobucket

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'...............I am officially headed to bed tonite!!!

Cupcake-a-Bella!

Today I played with my Bella stamps. I tossed around which one I really needed to play with and finally, Ms. Cupcake-a-bella struck my fancy!!! I used her to complete 4 challenges:

Charisma Cardz - the challenge is "Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend"

Lily of the Valley - the challenge is to paper piece as I did with Bella's dress!

Sketch Saturday - where a fun sketch was posted as inspiration!!!

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge
- pink & green, go with it!!!

Simple Moments.....................

.......make great memories!!!

What a fabulous quote huh??? I just love it and how true is it??? Some of my fondest memories are from growing up at the lake doing this very thing - swinging my feet from a dock either waiting to jump in or fishing!!!

This week over at The Cuttlebug Spot we were challenged to create something relating to school's out or summertime. Now my recent love affair with Magnolia stamps (it isn't obvious is it?? LOL) brought this darling little girl and dock to me this past week thanks to Michelle at Michelle's Scrapbooking and I couldn't wait to ink her up!!!

I also used this card to complete several challenges:

Just Magnolia - this week which was the summertime theme as well (how lucky was I??)

2 Red Bananas - which was summertime as well (again, how lucky??? LOL)

Friday Sketchers - a fab sketch to be inspired by!

Copic Creations Challenge Blog - I just found this blog and love the challenges given to use your Copic - we know my love for them since I learned to use them in March!!!

My card:

Queen for a Day???

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Well she sure thinks she is!!!! After I finished photographing my altered box in the last post I turned around to see our dah-ling kitty all relaxed on the dining room chair and the first thing that entered my head (other than I need a picture of this) was: Queen Kitty!!!

She very happily laid there and posed "prim and proper" for her up close and personal 15 minutes of fame!!!

Thought you might get a giggle like I did out of this!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Fun with paper!!!

This was so much fun to make!!! I was blog hopping and visited Michele's blog after her visit and wonderful comment on mine. She made the most adorable box and I knew it would be perfect for the monthly challenge over at Just Magnolia! So, I lifted it! In her post she links back to SCS for the directions to make the basic box and it was so so so so easy!

I hope you like it!!!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used my new Magnolia stamp (just got it in today), basic cardstock for the box, Making Memories English Garden PP's, Magnolia's Edwin stamped image, Copics, Misc flowers & ribbons & gems!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Ice Cream Anyone???

OK OK OK I don't have ice cream for you but I do have a neopolitan color scheme that will hopefully cool you off on a warm summers day!!!

This card is doing my typical multiple duty:

House Mouse Challenge - Neopolitan

Friday Sketchers - Fun sketch

Stamp with Fun - Dots

And for my card:

Photobucket

I had a heck of a time with that glass of tea and even now the ice cubes look like they have pink on them when in actuality they have Crystal Stickles on them and are picking up color from something nearby when I was taking the pic. I used BG papers, House Mouse image, Copics, Bazzill & Kaiser flowers, Hero Arts pearls, BG ribbon and a misc charm. I used to put charms on cards and layouts and had quit using them but saw someone (sorry I can't remember who it was) use one on a card recently and was like DOH!!! where are my charms!!!

Hope you like!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!!

Tired Tuesday!!!

Yeah, it is a tired Tuesday around our house. For some reason Rob and I didn't sleep so well last night and the kids stayed up late playing video games then they had to get up to go job hunting again. So, we are all a little out of it today!!!

I did get a card done today and if I do say so myself, she is MAH-VELOUS!!! She fills two challenges:

Penny Black Saturday Challenges - In honor of the blogs one year anniversary the challenge this week is Celebrations! I love this PB girl and I thought she would fit the bill of a party girl heading out on the town!!!

Card Patterns
- This is a sketch blog I just found so this is my first week to play over there! The sketch this week is just too darn cah-yute and I knew it would work fabulous with my PB card I was already working on when I found it!!

OK for the card:

Photobucket

If you stop by the PB challenge site and play along you can enter in the DT's anniversary blog hop but you have to create a card using at least one PB image or sentiment! So, what are you waiting for!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

#1 Dad

Today is reveal time at The Cuttlebug Spot!!! Our challenge this week was in honor of Father's everywhere!!! I have to admit - this is not one of my favorite cards because I was totally out of my box (I don't do masculine real well) but I do like it. I just think I need to tweak it a bit but overall it is a nice Father's Day card.

I used my Cuttlebug Embossing folder Traffic Jam to emboss a piece of clear craft plastic. I then used my Scor Pal to create a crease so I could attached the clear craft plastic onto a card back. For the layout of the card I used a sketch at Friday Sketchers. Snoopy is a Stampabilities stamp and on the inside, which I didn't take a picture of like a dork, is a stamped image by Stampendous (if I remember right) that says #1 Dad (it is behind the snoopy) and I left the white side blank so I could write on it.

Here's my card:

Photobucket

Again, I'm not totally on board with this one but it isn't horrible - at least I don't think it is!!! LOL

Thanks for stoppin' by and come on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and play along with us!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!

Thinking of You

I finally sat down and made another card - starting back to school this week and still working on unpacking (very slowly mind you :p ) has had me rather running ragged and hitting the bed early every night. This morning I felt the need to make a card for a dear friends wife who had back surgery a little over a month ago and it didn't fare so well. She ended up with loss of feeling and quite a few other things but is slowly recovering a little at a time. A lot of positive thoughts and prayers have been sent her way but I thought a card might brighten her week. This card is pulling triple duty for challenges today:

Just Magnolia - Paper piecing - I stamped the image 3 times: 1 on white to color, 1 on the green PP and 1 on the blue PP and then I pieced her dress together. I started to do her shirt sleeves and boots but thought it was a bit much when I got to looking at it. I am very happy with how it turned out!

Sketch Saturday - A fun and funky sketch!

Cardalicious - 2 flowers, 1 ribbon and the color blue!

Photobucket

Hope you like!

Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for the reveal at The Cuttlebug Spot - this week I went a bit out of my box but I liked it!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Sweetness!!

More blog candy - all I can say is WOW!!! Check out Donkey Smiles who is celebration 75k hits on her blog and giving away an amazing package!!!

I'm working on a card but haven't had time to finish as school started back up last night - I have classes on Wednesday and Thursday nights so getting back in the swing of school is kicking my butt since it is 2 separate nights as I've been having it all on 1 night!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin!!!

Bella-riffic!!!

I finally realized that the Bella site had a blog and get this.................CHALLENGES!!! DOH!!! Sometimes I swear I am blonde - no offense to anyone but I live with a genuine blonde (even though she stays dyed a different color) so I definitely know that the stereotype CAN be true in some cases. So anywho...........I found the challenges at the Bella Blog and since getting my first Bella in January I have started a love affair with these stamps. The challenge this week was a fab sketch challenge and I had so much fun with it!!!

My card:

Photobucket

Aren't these two girls just the cutest with their recent shopping trip and yummy ice cream???

I think I have a problem - no, not the one where I am obsessed with scrappy stuff......LOL. My sleep pattern is way jacked!!! This morning I was wide awake at 4 a.m. (5 Tx time) and the mornings I do try to sleep in I am up by 8:30 am at the latest. What the heck??? I'm typically a night owl and am lucky if I make it to midnight anymore!!!

Well, thanks for stoppin' by I love to see all the different places that come by just wish everyone would say hi!!! Happy Scrappin'!!!!

I'll be back later today with a new card - I've spent yesterday helping kids look for a job and have to take them out again today so my time to craft and finish unpacking has been limited but..........it is getting a little easier to move around in my craft area!!! Now the living room, ugh, that is another story!!!! But, once the living room is done and I get the last few boxes of my craft area packed and the dining room table put back together we'll be done!!!

I have to share this cute video I saw while blog hoppin'. I hope you get as many giggles from it as I did!!!

The Cuttlebug Spot #34

Hi all!!! It's Monday which means it is time for another reveal at The Cuttlebug Spot!!! June is a big time to get married which means lots of anniversaries to celebrate and that is the theme this week!!! My work this week is in honor of my Mom and Dad's 40th wedding anniversary.

My card, simple compared to my normal work but I really like it! I used a Martha Stewart card base that was pre embossed/edged that I got on clearance at WalMart - package of 40 for $3 and they had a simple "Thank You" on the front that was easily covered by PP. I then used my Textile embossing folder to emboss the dotted background paper by Little Yellow Bicycle, my Nestabilities butterfly die to cut out the gray PP butterfly and the transparency then I ran both through the Swiss Dots embossing folder and Stickled the gray PP butterfly. The Happy Anniversary was stamped using a Stampabilites stamp then cut out using Nestabilities for the sentiment and the background which is also Little Yellow Bicycle and the gems were from my stash.

Here's my card:

Photobucket

The next part of my reveal and gift for my parents is a simple glass coaster. I used the Textile embossing folder again on the background PP and cut a photo of my parents to place in the middle. I used my newer Cuttlebug Spring Florals die for the little butterfly and flowers, used gems and brads from my stash and Prima flowers to decorate the corner as well as ribbon by Little Yellow Bicycle.

My coaster:

Photobucket

And both:

Photobucket

This week's challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot is sponsored byThe Craft Barn - trust me, you WANT to win the gift certificate here because they carry some great stuff (I won this not long ago before I got on the DT and ordered 2 stamps and the shipping time was amazing from the UK to Texas!!!).

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin'!!!!

Happy, Happy, Happy...................

.........Birthday and Anniversary!!! Yesterday (6/6) was my 37th birthday and today (6/7) is my parents 40th anniversary!!!

I woke to this:

Photobucket

The card was so amazing it had me in tears!!! He said he searched and searched to find the perfect card that said everything he wanted it to say - let's just put it this way, he is an AMAZING husband!!! I've always known it but man, this card just blew me away!!!!

Then, he surprised me with a trip to the mountains to go hiking and sight seeing with the kids!!! What amazing sights did I get to see..................everything except for that darn snake that scared the bejeezus out of me!! I screamed like a girl and ran - my son got the biggest kick out of that!! LOL Let's just say I was going down a trail that apparently the snake was sunning him/herself on and "it" did not like the fact that I was interrupting the lounging time!!! It took off the other way and my ferocious daisy (***giggle, ferocious***) went after it - luckily she came back with just a couple hollers as I would hate to have seen her get bit!!!

Here is a slide show from our trip - I'll try to put labels on the pics later but I'm still unpacking - it is slow going because we are sorting while we unpack and of course my scrappy area is taking the longest because I'm trying (key word trying) to organize myself the first go around instead of pulling it all out later LOL - I really need Aymee to come visit me and help me, she is so freaking good at organizing!!!!

OK, thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin' - don't forget, tomorrow will be another challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot. If you have never played along with us you should definitely do so - fun challenges and amazing inspiration from all the DT!!!!

Scraproom Disaster

UGH!!! It looks like the Scraposaur (a scrappy dinosaur...LOL)threw up in my dining/scrap room!!! I have a lot of space but it is such a pain deciding where to put things ya know??? I spent a few hours today getting about half my boxes unpacked and put away then I gave up for a while!!! LOL

Here is my mess right now:

Photobucket

Trust me, you don't want to see more than this corner right now!!! Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I'll have it finished up and be ready to get busy again - I've missed creating!!!

I did take an hour tonite to make a card - I had enough stuff out and was feeling the pull to my Copics and couldn't resist!!! I made this card for 2 challenges: Mojo Monday's sketch challenge and House Mouse Monday Challenge Blog wedding/anniversary challenge.

Photobucket

I used some of my Basic Grey Mellow scraps, my Copics, House Mouse stamps, Stampin' Up sentiment stamps, Prima and Heidi Swapp flowers, Paper Studio gem brad and Prima gem flourish.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Scrappin'!!!

PS - Another DT card will be revealed on Monday for The Cuttlebug Spot so make sure you stop back by!!!!

Monday, June 1, 2009

Oh Goodness!!!

Well, moving has gotten the best of me!!! I set up a post to automatically go up today with my DT cards for Am I A Scrap Addict - Sketches and The Cuttlebug Spot and blast it, it didn't work!!!

So, my card for Am I A Scrap Addict - Sketches was inspired by this fab sketch De gave us to work with this month. I told her that she keeps outdoing herself as I think this has to be my fav sketch of hers so far!!!

Here's the sketch:

Photobucket

And here is my card - isn't this MFT stamp just too darn cah-yute???? I am loving it!!!

Photobucket

And my new DT spot that I am just thrilled to be a part of at The Cuttlebug Spot challenged us to bring out the stamps and boy, Nilda sure picked a great challenge for my first reveal because we ALL know how much I love my stamps!!! I used this darling Magnolia stamp - Tilda is just the cutest little girl, I can't get enough of her. I only have two Tilda stamps right this moment but you KNOW that I am gonna get more right??? LOL

So, here's my card:

Photobucket

I'm kind of disappointed in how the photographing of this card turned out. You can't hardly tell I used my CB Embossing folders and that just stinks because up close it is just so cute!!! On the checked background paper I used Bloom & Dots while on the layered flower I used three different embossing folders then spritzed it with my home made "glimmer mist" using Ranger's Perfect Pearls. Overall I love love love the card but wish my embossing would have shown up better.

On to the moving news:

We didn't leave Texas til after 3 pm and we were already whooped when we headed out. About midnight we decided we needed sleep something crazy like!!! We stopped in Tucumcari (spelling????) for the night but ended up pulling out of there around 4 am because we just couldn't sleep anymore - we all wanted to just get to our new home. We pulled in Albuquerque around 7:15 am and started unloading. By 11 am we were feeling the lack of sleep and showered off and took naps til around 2 pm then finished unloading the truck. Slept like a baby last night let me tell ya - I am NOT supposed to work that hard..............LOL!!!! Rob and the kids were amazing. With my back I just can't do what I used to and I hate to freaking admit it but after this move it was a big slap in the face that my back has gotten the best of me!! Oh well, what's a girl to do right???

I am off to help Rob finish getting the screen put up in the bedroom so we can watch TV tonite. We have a ton of unpacking to still do but with him working I am taking it slow. I did get our bed moved into the bedroom (with the help of the kids, it's solid cherry wood and HEAVY) and the night stands and dresser. I managed to get it all put together (again with the help of the kids) and started putting our clothes up where they belong. I have my suitcase and another bag of clothes left and I'll be done. Rob got our washer and dryer hooked up tonite so I have some of his clothes going since he's been here with no washer/dryer for 3 weeks and has only ran to the laundromat for necessities!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin'!!! I am so excited and can't wait to get my scrap stuff unpacked and in my new scrappy area (aka the dining room closet....LOL) and to get creating!!!

Followers

Just to cover all bases...................

I am not the best scrapper out there. I don't claim to be totally original, I lift from many places and in many forms from color combinations, to product usage, to technique and so forth. I try to be fair to all scrappers out there and mention them when I lift from them - now keep in mind, there are so many people out there scrapping, card making and altering items that naturally more than one person will have similar ideas. When I mention lifting, or casing as some call it, I mean when you intentionally take a design you see and duplicate it exactly or only change up the coloring........KWIM???

With that said..........
