Birthday Card

I was asked to make a birthday card for a customer at my work. She was pretty particular in what she wanted and when I showed her the Pink Cat Studio Stamps she was loving Lily!!! She went to the gallery and found a card by Suzanne Dean that she wanted me to replicate as close as possible - OK, it isn't usually my style to completely copy someone's work almost to the T, but I told her I would get it as close as possible.

Here is the card that I lifted by Suzanne Dean - it is a fab card and it doesn't surprise me why she would want it replicated:

And here is the card I made - I added depth by layering the box Lily is popping out of as well as the box Tweet is holding. I also added pearls for earrings, changed the colors just a little and changed up the sentiment area just a little - it is still inspired by Suzanne's but I tried to make it my own:

She also picked out another card by Karen Walls - again, it is not my style to totally copy but I'm working on the card now. This one will be totally different papers and colors but the basic style will be the same - I will post it when I finish it.

Did you notice how pretty Lily looks up there??? Well, it is thanks to my new Copics!!! I've only had fleshy colored Copics til today. When Rob and I went on our trip this weekend we allowed ourselves a certain amount of money each (thank you Uncle Sam) to gamble and well, I did gamble a little but I'd much rather spend my money on scrappy stuff that feeding the machines so I kept out quite a bit and bought me some Copics today!!!! I can not wait to use these more and show them off to you all!!!

So, I have one thing on my list done and quite a few more to finish. I'm half finished with the second card for the same lady and will have another card to make for my darling friend Jenn who is in Texas visiting. We went to school together and have been best of friends since the 4th grade!!! She is pregnant - she's the one I made the acrylic pregnant lady book for!!! Anywho, her birthday is coming up so I need to make her a birthday card and then I also need to finish the Baby boardbook for her. I also need to make a Thank You card for my darling husband's grandma who sent me a special birthday card, get my July 1st card challenge for Just Scrappin' and my crop challenge for this weekend!!!

OK, bad to my card makin'!!!

Over and out ya'll...........happy scrappin'!!!!

OK, updated the post with this card:

I am really NOT thrilled with it but we'll see what she says.

Here is the card I lifted it from:

I like Karen's card better than mine.

Just to cover all bases...................

I am not the best scrapper out there. I don't claim to be totally original, I lift from many places and in many forms from color combinations, to product usage, to technique and so forth. I try to be fair to all scrappers out there and mention them when I lift from them - now keep in mind, there are so many people out there scrapping, card making and altering items that naturally more than one person will have similar ideas. When I mention lifting, or casing as some call it, I mean when you intentionally take a design you see and duplicate it exactly or only change up the coloring........KWIM???

With that said..........

Thanks and happy scrappin'!!!!
