..................to my darling best friend from high school Jennifer!!! Jenn and her husband Todd celebrated the birth of their 2nd child together yesterday. Kaitlyn Jo was born at 8:29 a.m. weighing in at 11 lbs 6 ounces and 20.5" in length!!! She is a chubby little thing but absolutely adorable!!! I just wish I was closer to Connecticut to see her!!!!

I did get some cute pics of Snow that I can share though - no, not the white stuff that comes from the sky, my kitty Snowball!!! She is just freaking adorable!!! She put in some hard work helping me last night and had to crash on the desk in the middle of creating!!!! LOL

This is when she first crapped out:

During a brief moment to check and make sure I was still working:

And then out again:

I just wish I could capture her and Daisy wrestling - they are so darn cute. The kitty has been known to wrap herself around Daisy's head!!! Oh, last night I went into see what Cait and Dyl were doing and Snow had Daisy all tangled in a sheet and whacking the crap out of her - it was hilarious!!! When Daisy got loose she got her back though and chased her through the house. They remind me of a couple little kids playing!!!! I'll be trying to get a pic of them and when I do I'm sure I'll share!!!

I made two cards between last night and today AND I made a light box for taking pictures of my work. It seems to work rather well I just need better lighting for it. Here is a picture of the light box and one of the cards I made - the card is blurred because it is my DT assignment and I didn't realize it til I went to upload the picture last night and was just too lazy to retake it.

And here is the card I made today:

Overall I like the card but looking at it I would have done a couple things different. It's OK though, I can change it up on another card I make later!!!

Materials list: CS = CoredinationsPP = ChatterboxStamps = Have no clue, they are old.Copics = YR16, E14, G19, YG03, Y08, B32 & E30Ribbon/Fiber = EK Success

Thanks for looking!

We watched Baby Mama and Love Guru today - talk about laughing my bottom off!!! Those were both pretty good movies!!! I about died with all the innuendos in Love Guru - funny stuff!!!

That is about it for today!!! I'm going to play some Warhammer I think and then maybe watch another movie with the family. I'm kind of tired today after not sleeping well last night so I may make it an early night to be as I have some stuff to do tomorrow so I definitely do not want to be tired!!!

Happy Scrappin' and have a great evening!!!!

Good Friday Morning!!!

Another week has flown by and I haven't accomplished much of anything scrappy wise. I've started several projects to push them aside in order to study for my final in Med Law so now I have projects sitting around needing work on them and that really bugs me...........LOL.

I also started putting my DT card together last night. I've had it sketched out as usual for a while now but always end up waiting til the last minute to put it together because I know it won't take no time once I get going. I will be able to post it on the 2nd to share with you all!!!

Yesterday while baking I caught some darling pictures of Daisy and Snowball:

They get along so great!!!

I think I mentioned it on one of my scrappy boards but not here. I have the unfortunate news that Whisper is no longer with us. Nothing tragic she just didn't fit in here so she has moved on to a new home. I think she is not the kind of kitty who can deal with other pets and well, we have 3 others. She would not eat for us, would not use the litter box (pottying all over the house!!!), would not stop screaming and wouldn't sleep unless you were holding her and then as soon as she woke up she would start screaming again. She kept getting behind my computer and chewing on my wires as well as behind the component shelf in our room and chewing on those wires. Not only were we worried about her electrocuting herself, we can't afford to replace all of the electronic items that she was going to ruin by chewing through the cords.Snowball on the other hand is the perfect family kitty. Her and Daisy are best friends (as you can see in my pics) and pretty much inseperable!!! She hasn't tried to attack Bob just yet - she can't get to his cage is probably the only thing stopping her. She plays on her own, uses the litter box and will eat and drink on her own. She sleeps with whoever she ends up with when she tires out and then gets up and moves to the next person to play and go back to sleep. I am sad that Whisper kitty could not remain in our home but I can not have an animal that refuses to potty appropriately - I can deal with other things but the pottying issues are major for me.

Well, errands to run this morning so I must get moving!!! Happy day and happy scrappin' all!!!!

I'm gonna stray from my scrappy posts today and focus on something else for once. Friendship - what does it mean to you? To me it is the bond between people that does not break for little disagreements and even big fights. It is the little things you share with someone, the love you feel for them and forgiveness you have when things don't go right. I found a poem that is short, sweet and sums it all up for me for several of my friends:

by Dena Martin
As I lookBeyond the ripples of my reflections
To examine my inner self;
The ripples begin to fade . . .
As the reflection lays beside me
Grasping my hand,
The inner warmth shields me
And the vision of my reflection appears
I see you. My Friend.

So, to all my friends out there whether you be real life friends, blogging friends, family friends or forum friends, I love you all and think you of today as I celebrate friendship!!!

Of course, this post leads me to another type of Friendship - Amish Friendship Bread..........mmmmmmmmm. Have you ever had this or made it yourself??? It is so easy to make and just delicious as long as you have the patience for the 10 day wait to make it!!! I will share my recipe that I have been using for years with you along with some pictures I took today while baking. I made 15 mini loaves - yep, 15!!! The kids barely got in the doors and Dylan's nose was working overtime figuring out what it was he was smelling - he zeroed in on the cookie guess but as soon as I said no he knew what it was!!!!

So, a history lesson first on the origination of Amish Friendship Bread:

The recipe isn't an original Amish recipe!! Huh??? What??? Oh come on, since when did the Amish have instant pudding and ziploc baggies???

According to research I've done to satisfy my inquisitive mind, the idea and name is borrowed from the Amish based on the sourdough breads they used to pass around. They would have a starter similar to the one in this recipe and when it was ready they would bake their sourdough breads, pancakes and muffins and share them.

Onto our recipe and pictures!!!

Firs thing you need is a starter. You can get this starter from someone who has baked a loaf and passed the starter along with the loaf or you can make it yourself. If you would like to make your starter yourself you will need a ziploc baggie, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of flour. Pour all 3 ingredients into the ziploc baggie, squeeze out the air and zip shut. Now squish the baggie to mix the ingredients. If you have rec'd a starter or made your starter you will start with Day 1 once the starter is available to you:

Day 1 through 5 squish your baggie of mixture.
Day 6 add 1 cup milk, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup flour. Seal your bag, squeeze out the air and squish the baggie to mix up.
Day 7 to 9 squish your baggie of mixture.
Day 10 gather your supplies and move on to the recipe.

OK, first you need to gather your supplies, you should ONLY USE plastic or glass dishes and utensils when mixing and preparing your dough. You can bake it in metal pan tins but shouldn't have contact with the starter and any metal objects!!!

You will need: 1 large plastic or glass bowl, 1 plastic utensil to stir & mix with, your baggie of starter, oil, sugar, vanilla, eggs, baking powder, salt, flour, milk, baking soda, instant pudding mix in your choice of flavor and optional items of bakers chips, coconut, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, candies, etc. In addition you will need 5 mini baking tins or 2 large baking tins per batch of bread you make (per starter).

The first thing you will need to do is measure out 1 cup of starter from the baggie and place it into another baggie to carry over for your next round of breads or to pass onto a friend. If you just want to bake 4 batches then no need to move 1 to a baggie at this point. Measure out the rest of mixture into 1 cup batches and set aside.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Place 1 of your 1 cup starter mixtures into your plastic bowl along with 1 cup of oil and 1 cup of sugar. Your initial mixture should look like this:

You don't have to start mixing things up yet, you can wait until you get all the ingredients into the bowl to mix if you like - that is what I do.

Next you will add 1 tsp vanilla, 3 large eggs, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 tsp baking soda and your box of instant pudding. Your bowl will now look like this:

Using the plastic utensil you will mix the ingredients in the bowl until they are a smooth mixture a little thicker than a cake mix. It should look like this:

Now is the time you add baking chips, peanuts, etc. if you choose to use them:

Mix the additional ingredients in thoroughly. Now you will fill your greased baking tins half full with your mixture. If you are using the mini baking tins you will get 5 mini loaves and if you use the full size you will get 2 loaves.

When I grease my tins I put cinnamon instead of flour and sometimes sugar depending on the loaves I am making:

Put your loaves into the oven to bake. Now any baker knows each oven varies with its temperature so start checking your loaves at 30 minutes until you get to know your oven with this recipe. Here are mine about 20 minutes into a 40 minute batch since these are butterscotch:

Don't worry, the dark stuff you see isn't burnt, it is just the cinnamon. Now the original recipe I was handed down stated an hour but my oven here takes about 35 minutes for the chocolate loaves and 40 to 45 for all others - never an hour.

After 40 minutes here are my butterscotch loaves fresh from the oven and still in their pan:

Now you can leave them in the pan if you choose but I always take mine out as soon as possible once I've pulled them from the oven. I have fewer problems with them sticking if I do this since I almost always put baking chips in them. Here they are cooling just minutes from the oven:

Well, I hope you enjoyed the poem, the recipe and watching me bake today. I love to cook but baking is my passion - I don't eat many sweets but I sure love to bake them!!! My family is enjoying the bread already and one loaf of chocolate chip is gone and half a loaf of butterscotch is gone. I had to put the rest of it in baggies for now so they have room for dinner!!! We are having bacon/mac & cheese w/a cracker topping, garlic cheese rolls, chicken stuff with mushrooms and swiss cheese for the guys and chicken stuffed with pepper jack and bacon for the girls and I'm not sure on a veggie yet but will figure it out as soon as the timer for the chicken goes off!!!

Have a good evening, happy scrappin' and bakin'!!! Thanks for stoppin' by!!!

A Card.........

Here is the card I submitted for the DT call at Christmas Cards All Year Round:

I wasn't chosen for the DT but Deanne said it wasn't because my card wasn't good enough, it is because I am already on one of her DT's and she wanted to give others a chance to be on this DT!!! Which, I totally understand and respect!!! She did ask if she could post my card because she loved it - that made me feel good!!!

I'm just glad I can share with everyone now - it has been killing me!!! I am in love with this card and think it is one of the best I've done in a while - I have a whole bunch more to make though for Christmas and I'll be using the same papers - which, are NOT Christmas papers!!!

I Believe..........

I got this email from my Dad today and felt the need to share it, it really puts life into perspective doesn't it???? So, sit back, grab a cup of coffee or tea and absorb what is said here, it might make a difference on your outlook and it might not, either way it is a good read:

"A Birth Certificate shows that we were born
A Death Certificate shows that we died
Pictures show that we lived!"

I Believe...
That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...
That my best friend and I, can do anything, or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe...
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
You must pick yourself up and move on.

I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything."

I hope you enjoyed this - I did and that is why I wanted to share it. Sometimes life throws you lemons, make lemonade!!! I have so much I could add to this but won't, some things are better left unsaid.

On a scrappy note, I so want to share with you the darling cards I've made but I have to wait one more day!!!

Well, happy scrappin' everyone and maybe I'll get something scrappy done today I can share!!!

DT Card Reveal

Today the cards at Am I A Scrap Addict - Sketches were released!!! The sketches were just fabulous to work with but you must stop in and check out the work of our team - they amaze me with all the different versions on the sketches!!! Beautiful work ladies!!!

Here is my card that I did for the sketch:

Check out Deanne's sketches and leave a comment linking back to what you create with them!!!

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new stamps!!! I've been shopping with Pink Cat Studios for some time now and you have seen many creations with Melissa's stamps, but I must say this last release has me giddy!!! We all know I am in the mood for Christmas - heck, I have been since July - well, the new Christmas Kitty set has me bouncing off the walls!!! The best part - I got them free!!! You heard me!!! I've been saving my Pink Cat Points - which are earned by purchasing Melissa's stamps - and I used them for this must have set!!! Wanna see what I am waiting on????

Check these out at Pink Cat Studio:

I did get creative last night/this morning but I can't show it yet - just a couple more days and I can!!! But a hint, I'm making Christmas cards (like that is a surprise with me talking about the new PCS stamps...........LOL)!!!! I'm actually trying out for another card DT so I just can't share right this minute but once they announce the DT then I can. I did use a PCS kitty stamp from a previous release, you can check out that stamp here!!! Don't you just love that kitty in a box????

Don't forget to check out the challenges at Just Scrappin' - we are still growing and having lots of fun!!! I'm behind over there with the challenges but hope to get caught up soon!!!!

Today I must take a test in my Med Law class, unpack this darn tote that I've been moving around for the last 3 days and figure out how the heck to store my stickers!!! So, whatever you choose to do today, be safe and have fun!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!

Happy Sunday!!!!

I have nothing new that I can post today - slacker that I am. I did finish my DT card which will be revealed on the 16th so I'll post it here then as well.

Ike bypassed us thank goodness. When Rob and I were watching the weather channel on Friday they were saying we could get some tropical like weather in our area but it skirted by us with a little rain, very little wind but some awesome clouds and no, I didn't have my camera with me when we went to town so I didn't get any pics of them!!!

The kitties are doing well. Daisy hasn't eaten them yet........LOL. They are growing each day and playing so much more!!! With them being so small we thought we'd have a bit before we had to worry about them getting out of our room with a little door block, yeah, NOT!!! They've performed the great escape by climbing the "giant" wall blocking the doorway and have gotten out so Rob made it a little higher - he now has me trapped in the bedroom too!!! Wait, was there a master plan there??? HHHHMMMMM, I'm gonna have to rethink this one, did he trap me on purpose!!!! LOL

I keep saying I'm almost done unpacking and I am ALMOST done but still not quite yet!!! I think I am down to the 1 tote and maybe one box of stuff to get put away in my scrappy area. The rest of the house is pretty much done except for the kids' rooms but hey, that isn't my area so thank goodness they are old enough to unpack and set their rooms up THEIR way!!!!

I did find this awesome new group of ladies - well they aren't new but I am new to their site. I don't typically group hop because it is too much to keep up with but I've ran across all these fabulous ladies lately thanks to the direction of a few friends and have to learn a little bit better time management so I can hang out and create with them all!!!! If you have a moment check out the links in the sidebar here on my blog. Some of my favorite places to play are listed there. I'm bad though, I may log in but may not chat some days but I just like keeping up with them and seeing how everyone is doing!!!

OK, must fix some breakfast I'm thinking. Have a great Sunday and hopefully I'll be back in a couple days with something to show you!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!!

Time flies....................

..........................whether you are having fun or not!!!

Let's see, where do I start.  First off I apologize for not being so attentive lately.  Some of my fellow bloggers, followers (how cool is it that I actually have people who LIKE to read my blog) and my scrappy sisters have been so patient with me and the move and I've really neglected visiting with them and showing some love.  So, I plan to get working on that this weekend and hopefully I am able to visit each of you and say hello!!!

We are on the downhill slide of getting settled in.  We still have a few boxes left to unpack and figure out where we are going to put the stuff inside, but it is coming along nicely.

The remodeling is pretty much done.  We need to put up two pieces of sheetrock in the bathroom and either wallpaper them or paint them and we are done!!!  Well, except for the putting stuff back in its place!!!!  LOL

My scrappy area is cool.  It is bigger than I had before overall in square footage but I don't have a clue how I fit all that crap in the other area because I am having issues getting everything put into a nice and functionable place now.  I did switch out my storage system to some cute cubbies I got at Target and I was sure that would give me more storage space but for some reason it isn't.  I have 4 or 5 more boxes of stuff and 1 tote to go through and get put in place - wish me luck because I have no clue WHERE I am going to get them put!!!!  LOL  As soon as I get it organized - well as organized as I can be - I will snap some photos and show you all my new little scrappy haven!!!

I have a 2 page layout to show.  The color isn't so great because it has been raining her the last few days and nothing is dry enough for me to lay them down on to get good light.  I took the pics in the bathroom on top of a box I was emptying so forgive me for the poor photo quality but you'll get the idea.

I am pretty happy with them but feel I could have done something more to them or maybe something different.  Overall it is a nice 2 pager and I got pictures from last years pumpkin carving done!!!

I had some excitement in my scrappy nook a couple days ago!!!  I was checking something on the computer taking a break from the unpacking and moving of boxes Rob and I had been doing and I saw something out the corner of my eye to the left of my desk on the floor.  Holy crap it was a mouse!!!  A HUGE MOUSE!!!  OK, so not so huge but I am absolutely petrified of mice so any mouse no matter the size is ginormous to me!!!  Needless to say I screamed and Rob came running - then laughing!!!!  We decided to get kitties!!!  It was a toss up of having a mouse (or mice) in the house or kitties and dealing with allergies.  Yeah, I chose allergies hands down!!!  So we went looking and finally found two darling little girls!!!  We named them Snowball and Whisper.  Snowball, well, she's white and the little girl of the family who we got them from called her that and when Dylan saw her he asked if we could call her Snowball so it stuck.  Then we have Whisper.  I'm being sarcastic on this ones name.  She is by no means QUIET!!!  She talks and talks and talks and lets you know if she isn't happy or hungry or sleepy or just needs to cuddle.  She is more like a human baby than a kitty!!!  Overall they are both fabulous babies and very playful and already spoiled rotten.

Meet Snowball and Whisper:

Whisper nuzzling with her daddy:

Snowball lounging on our bed:

Dylan and both of the girls hiding out in the bathroom on the first night home - they sure did figure out how to get out of doing some work.....LOL:

I think I should have edited that photo - you see how the boxes of my scrapbooking stuff was labeled........LOL.  That one is mild.  There is one that said "Blooming F'ng Crazy W/All These Flowers" and another that said "More F'ng Flowers"................LOL

Both of them helping me in my Med Law and Ethics class:

Snowball pointing out some important facts:

The two of them losing concentration on our studies and deciding to put some finishing touches on a frame I did a long time ago - I guess the flower wasn't to their liking so they reset it for me:

Two pooped out kitties after all that studying and crafting:

Have you all wondered what Daisy thinks of them yet????  Well, she is intrigued by them, she seems to like them for the most part but funniest of all she is scared to death of them when they come at her to play!!!  If she wanted she could take two bites and there would be no more kitty but instead she runs away from them in circles!!!

Here is a pic of Snowball and Daisy getting to know each other:

We haven't introduced them to Bob yet.  I'm sure Bob would be friendly enough but them being so young and not having much restraint right now I don't think Bob the bird is quite safe yet!!!!

Tonite I am working on my DT assignment for Am I A Scrap Addict Sketches (see link on the side) that needs to be in like tomorrow - with the move I lost track of time but at least had it ready to go in my head for a couple weeks now!!!

By the way, Daisy is now the Mighty Mouse Hunter Doggie!!!  This evening while the guys were out back shooting the pellet guns Cait came and told me that Daisy caught the mouse and it was lying in the middle of the floor by the door.  I laughed but she was serious - yep, there layed the poor little DEAD mouse!!!  Woohoo Daisy!!!  We thought she caught sight or the scent of the little thing last night because she was going crazy scooting in and out of the boxes in the living room last night.  Guess that little mouse got brave tonite - to bad for him but oh so good for me!!!  I'm sure there are more and hopefully they will either be smart and move out on their own or Daisy will catch them - I sure don't want to wait for the kitties to get old enough to catch them................LOL.

Touching back on my studying today for school.  All is well and I'm really enjoying my classes now that I got the hang of online schooling.  I have a 97 and 96 for averages in my two classes.  We are about 3 weeks out of finishing this term and I can not believe how fast it has flown by!!!  Just think, if this term went this fast the rest of the schooling will probably go just as fast and I'll be graduated in no time!!!

Well, another long winded post from me but I think I have caught you all up to date with what is going on.  Nothing too exciting just unpacking for the most part.  I'm hoping to be back up and running by the weekend so I can catch up on some challenges I've missed out on lately and some chatting!!!!

Happy Scrappin' all!!!!

DT Card Revealed

Here is the card I did for Am I A Scrap Addict - Sketches :

I was very excited to get the first card revealed as I was so worried that my interpretation of the sketch was just wacky!!!  But, I see all the girls had their own visions with the sketch which made me feel at ease.

Materials Used:

Basic Grey Archaic Papers
Bazzill & Misc Cardstock
Stampendous Stamps
Misc Ribbon
Copic Markers

That's all for tonite.  I just finished my test for Med Law & Ethics - made a 100, yay me - and I am now working on my scrappy nook.  We have to wallpaper one wall and then get my desk moved in there.  My darling hubby just finished putting together two shelves for me and tomorrow I will begin unpacking - I hope!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!!

Just to cover all bases...................

I am not the best scrapper out there. I don't claim to be totally original, I lift from many places and in many forms from color combinations, to product usage, to technique and so forth. I try to be fair to all scrappers out there and mention them when I lift from them - now keep in mind, there are so many people out there scrapping, card making and altering items that naturally more than one person will have similar ideas. When I mention lifting, or casing as some call it, I mean when you intentionally take a design you see and duplicate it exactly or only change up the coloring........KWIM???

With that said..........
