Curve Balls

You know, those little things that life throws at you when you think you are on the right track? Yep, another curve ball for our household and hopefully the last!!!

Let's recap:

I spent a fabulous week in Tennessee with scrappy friends mid April. During that time my darling hubby got his CDL and started driving a truck - times are hard everywhere and well, trucking seems to be holding stable right now in our area so we figured this would be our best bet to getting a steady income into our household again while I finish up school. Then, 3 weeks ago - the week I got home and the week he went out on the road - we got a phone call. A job he applied for in early December last year, interviewed with in February and told the positions were filled in March called. They were offering him a job which was a step up from what he had applied because he, unknowingly to us, had been given credit for his years of military service so he had been applying for jobs below the GS scale he qualified!!! UGH!!! LOL

So, needless to say it was an opportunity he could not pass us because a.) it is with the government which has excellent benefits and the pay was right and b.) he would not have to be away from home all the time like with driving a truck because if you ain't driving, you ain't making money.

Fast forward back to current:

We got him moved out there with basics, got an apartment and he started work on the 11th. I was able to spend about 5 days out there with him helping him get settled then I came back to Texas to finish packing up the house and let the kids finish out school here.

Now, you are probably asking OK OK OK where the heck is it that you are moving to????? Beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico!!!!!!

This was outside of Albuquerque - there is still some snow on top of the mountains, how cool is that????

And these two were taken as we walked out of our apartment - I zoomed in on the 2nd one to get a better shot:

I can't wait to get moved out there and get pictures of the sunrise over the mountains, the sunset over the other mountains, the beautiful area altogether!!!!

Then, this week my niece gave birth to a baby girl - she is precious but I don't have any pics yet. I decided the morning she went into labor I wanted to make a bag for her to use in lieu of a bulky diaper bag when she makes quick trips somewhere - you know, be able to loop around her neck and onto her side big enough to through a couple diapers, one of the small containers of diaper wipes in it, an extra outfit, a bottle or two, binky, small blankie/cover-up. Seriously, used for just running to grab a bite to eat at the drive through or down to do laundry/check mail at her apartments. It has been years since I have sewn anything more than those aprons I showed in the last post and my scrappy work so this was gonna be fun!!! I was already headed to WalMart for milk and eggs when I found out she was in labor so I stopped by the fabric department to see what I could find. I saw a pattern with a bag similar to the one I had in my head but wasn't gonna pay $8 for it - yeah, I'm cheap!!! I decided I could make it without a pattern.............LOL...............found the fabric - pink for a baby girl and frogs because my niece loves frogs. It took my some time, but I did it!!! No pattern at all - just lots of thinking and drawing and more thinking to make sure things went on in the right place!!! The fabric flower was fashioned after the tutorial my friend Cristal did for making them. I sure hope she likes it!!!

OK, off to do my DT card for June 1 and then finish up with some packing. I am hoping to take a load of stuff out Memorial Day weekend so when we go out the following weekend we don't have so much to try and take out. We still won't have all our furniture until later in the summer but a few basics will be enough to get us started til we can get back to Texas to pick it all up!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I promise to have some scrappy stuff started back up in June - I really miss all the challenge blogs and challenges on some of my favorite scrappy sites!!!

Happy Scrappin'!!!

Just to cover all bases...................

I am not the best scrapper out there. I don't claim to be totally original, I lift from many places and in many forms from color combinations, to product usage, to technique and so forth. I try to be fair to all scrappers out there and mention them when I lift from them - now keep in mind, there are so many people out there scrapping, card making and altering items that naturally more than one person will have similar ideas. When I mention lifting, or casing as some call it, I mean when you intentionally take a design you see and duplicate it exactly or only change up the coloring........KWIM???

With that said..........
