Mama Always Said..................

...............Imitation is the best form of flattery. So, I must say I am flattered to see several imitations of my Just Magnolia card floating around out there. I am so honored that I was able to provide inspiration for some of you - thanks for letting me know!!!

It is such a great design that I decided to "imitate" it myself this week for the Inky Impressions blog challenge "Tag, Your It" challenge - I did change it up just a bit by putting the image on the tag and inside the pocket instead of outside the pocket but I stuck with the basic overall design.

Inky Impressions were generous to offer a digi design to use for the challenge so that even us that are unfortunate to own any Inky Impressions at this time could play along!!!

More Blog Candy

I can't help but sharing when I find yummy blog candy. I've not won any yet but I hope that my dear friends win if I can't! This candy is just freaking amazing!!! Denise is offering up this huge prize so make sure you pop on over and enter for a chance to win. While you are there check out her amazing work - she truly is one talented lady!!!

Party Time.........

...............at The Cuttlebug Spot!!! This weeks challenge is "Invitations" - any type of invitation you would like!! I chose a cupcake that I cut out using my Cricut and then embossed the "cupcake liner" and the "frosting" while adding a candle cut out with the Birthday Wishes die by Cuttlebug. I added gems to the "frosting" and Stickles to the "candle" for the flame effect. Inside I kept it simple - Party Time and date, time, place. These would be really quick and easy invites for a kids party at school.

I started out differently with this but it became so bulky I had to remove a couple layers. I do plan on trying it again later to see if I can figure out how to make it layered and interactive like I wanted but not so bulky it doesn't close - I promise, it was really cool being a flap card opening from several directions but by the time I added the "frosting" and "cupcake liner" on each layer (which was needed to keep the look going) it was so bulky I couldn't close it ------->>>>> :( that is my sad face but never fear, I will try again!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

Digi Images

I'm starting to really fall in love with digi images - no mess, no storage issues (they can go anywhere I go on the laptop) and what a huge variety I am finding out there. This card was made for a sketch challenge at Paper Craft Planet using a digi image from Mo at Digital Pencil and being used for the Copic Buzz Challenge as well!!!

Happy Birthday from Friday Sketchers

This card is for the sketch at Friday Sketchers this week. I had other plans for this card but changed direction once I got started. I used the Happy Birthday and Birthday Wishes embossing folders although you can't really see the Happy Birthday one on the blue patterned paper. I also used my nesties for the background shape on the image, Basic Grey papers, Stickles, Whipper Snapper Designs image, Happy Birthday rub-on from DCWV, American Crafts ribbon, flowers by Prima and gems/buttons from my stash!

If you look close you can see a different color on the dots on her bow on the original but when I realized I was off on the colors I had to fix it and was to lazy to color the entire image again.........LOL.

I got Butterfly Tilda, School Books Tilda and then background images: Spring, Cottage, Desk, Swing.

Now I just need to find time to play with them! I have been working this week and then finals are this week and my DT work so it leaves little time for me to play right now!!!

Charisma and The Cutting Cafe

This week over at Charisma Cardz we are sponsored again by the fabulous digi products from The Cutting Cafe. I haven't done a lot with digi designs before but I have to say that Regina's sentiments are perfect to use in cardmaking as well as scrapbooking. I chose to use a Happy Birthday sentiment on my card which was inspired by the sketch we have this week. My Mom's birthday is coming up in November and this sentiment just really fit the bill for what I always want her to know.

Make sure you stop by Charisma Cardz and play along with out sketch challenge and YOU could be the winner of some fabulous digi products from The Cutting Cafe!!!

I used Stickles, papers from Making Memories, image from Stampavie Rachel Anne Miller and bling from Hero Arts. I kept this card pretty simple but of course wanted to add flowers and ribbon - who knows, closer it gets to her birthday I might have to add more to it!! LOL

As always, thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

New Do's

While at the mall with the kids waiting for JC Penney to open so we could finish school clothes shopping I told Cait she should go into the salon and get her hair cut - she's been talking about it for a while just hadn't done anything about it. So, in we went while Dylan did his shopping in Penney's. Cait chose a stacked bob style cut and talked me into getting my hair cut as well - into a very similar style.

Here are pics of our new "do's":

Whaddaya think? I am hoping it is easier and quicker for me to fix for work and the same for her with school.

And I can't forget Dylan - he found these shorts and just loved them but man they are so heavy!

Don't forget tomorrow is Charisma time! Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!

A Gift For You

This week at Just Magnolia we were challenged to create from a fantastic sketch by Martine. I immediately thought of making my card a gift card holder since there was a tag that could be used.

If you notice the image is on both the card and the tag - I only adhered her by her head so she would slide in and out with the tag. I have the blue ribbon across the front anchoring her feet when the tag is in the pocket.

Well, it is time for me to get ready for work. Thanks for stoppin' by and happy scrappin'!!!

PS Don't forget Thursday is another reveal at Charisma Cardz - just wait til you see what everyone has created, fabulous stuff I'm tellin' ya!!!

Just to cover all bases...................

I am not the best scrapper out there. I don't claim to be totally original, I lift from many places and in many forms from color combinations, to product usage, to technique and so forth. I try to be fair to all scrappers out there and mention them when I lift from them - now keep in mind, there are so many people out there scrapping, card making and altering items that naturally more than one person will have similar ideas. When I mention lifting, or casing as some call it, I mean when you intentionally take a design you see and duplicate it exactly or only change up the coloring........KWIM???

With that said..........
